Friday Night at Bolsa Cafe.

Friday night a Bolsa was great awesome. We love taking pics at Bolsa. It's completely not possible to take a bad shot. The whole building and scenery are beautiful.

We outfitted our print wall with some framed artwork, new $5 screenprinted notebooks, and we've still got a few Foxy Fox coasters left.

If you need a Dad gift for the upcoming Father's Day holiday, we've got a plethora of awesome rock'n tees for Dad....and for you.

Ladies, we still have you covered with our tri-blend super soft v-neck tees. That's the Grand Whale there. He's the nautical musical beast, never actually seen by the naked eye, but we have drawn his likeness from a very detailed description that we made up.

We have a few pillows left, and are making some more. These guys really don't stay on our shelves very long, so if you fall in love, you better make that pillow yours before someone else marries it.

We also decided to stay for brunch on Sunday. Why not, I mean the food just keeps getting better and better and we love meeting everyone coming and going.

Date: May 27+28
TimeFri noon-10pm, Sat noon-10pm. Sun 10am-3pm
Location: Bolsa Cafe's parking lot

Hanging out at Smoke and taking pics

Last night we took the Dowdy Wagon over to Smoke Restaurant next to the Belmont Hotel in Oak Cliff and hung out for some happy hour good times. Smoke is in a nice location, on a Dallas hill, so the views of downtown are beautiful. We snapped a few pics and a few more pics. Enjoy! Oh and P.S. try their brisket. It's A M A Z I N G!!!

Renegade'n in the Magbooth

The Magbooth was a fun little photo booth set up at Renegade Craft Fair. We couldn't resist taking some goofy photos in it. It's just kinda mandatory with us.

Pamela + Stephanie (tefi) - getting shot with ray guns and trying to fit our heads in a triangle.....er polygon thing. I mean we're making handmade MATH!!

Pamela + Cheyne (Cut Out and Collect) - slowly morphing into party monsters or party dinosaurs, not sure, probably both.

We had fun, and are looking to terrorize more photobooths....bring it on!

Renegade Craft Fair Austin - Visual Recap

This past Saturday and Sunday we strapped on the Dowdy Studio Wagon and trotted down to Austin, TX for the Renegade Craft Fair! We snapped a few pics and had a great time in the capital city.

Pre-show frenzy. The Palmer Events center was quiet right before 11am. You could hear the chatter of the artists and the last minute shuffling of artwork as we eagerly awaited the doors to open.

Hi to Cheyne and Thomas from Cut Out and Collect, a couple of our dear Dallas friends.

Next to the Dowdy Studio Wagon were some more familiar faces from f is for frank showing off their jewelry designs.

Next to f is for frank, we found Loop + Lil, a children's designer, and Silas Tom, a print artist. They're both from Dallas too, which made our corner of the room the Dallas Contingent.

We saw a couple of familiar faces, Handmade Julz, who moved to Portland from Dallas and Studio Erico, who also migrated to Austin from Dallas. It was like a little Dallas reunion seeing these ladies again.

The booths and artists seemed to go one for miles in the large convention center. There was so much to see and shop. If you missed it, go see the artist page here.

Brew Riot! Mmmm...beer + tees!

**UPDATE** You can find Brew Riot tees now in our online shop. click here

Last summer we kinda stumbled into (and out of) one of the greatest events we could ever fathom, Brew Riot!!

It was a warm weekend evening, and we had just finished packing up our handmade goods for the day from a Dallas show we were in. Our spirits were high, but our thirst needed to be quenched. When we heard rumors of a beer tasting event in the Bishop Arts District, our ears perked up, we cheersed our figurative custom engraved beer mugs, and ran over there to see what all the fuss was about. We had a blast at the 2nd annual Brew Riot trying all kinds of local brews and new beers.

When they needed tees done for this year's event, they asked us to design their 3rd Annual Brew Riot tshirts!! We power clinked our figurative mugs again in joy, and got to hand drawing a very cool design for the event. You can see a little of the hand lettering we did in this earlier blog post

The tees are a 100% cotton, hand screenprinted, prewashed, smoke gray tee, and will be on sale at Brew Riot for only $15. Yup, that's just fifteen buck-a-roos!

Go Oak Cliff will be selling our limited edition Brew Riot tees ($15). Get 'em before they run out.
date: Sun, May 22
time: 4pm-8pm
cost: $20 suggested donation to sample free beer local brewers

Dowdy Studio - Print Giveaway on Athena in the Middle

Summer is the sweetie pie behind the blog, Athena in the Middle, which catalogs her journey of becoming a pastry chef, becoming parents through adoption, fashion, foods, fun in NYC, and her daily life. We first met Summer when she approached us to design a custom tattoo in remembrance of her loving father who had passed. We loved working on this project, we actually got to experience the love Summer felt for her father as she described his interests and hobbies. It was magic.

Summer's tattoo has yet to be inked, but you can check out the final design on her blog here

Today is also Summer's birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUMMER!! So we thought it would be fun to give away two of our 5x7 prints on her blog. Check in there and see how you can win. There's many ways to enter, but the deadline is June 1st, so get over there and enter the contest.

Homegrown Fest Recap in Pictures

This past weekend we had the incredible oppertunity to bring the Wagon to the Homegrown Music and Arts Festival in downtown dallas. We had a blast! We met great people, artists, and music lovers of all kinds.
Our little Dowdy Wagon looks even smaller next to huge downtown buildings.

We somehow managed to grab the best seat in the house. We loved watching the bands play right outside our back entrance to the Wagon.

Just outside the Dowdy Wagon, we had a large lawn party of people watching the bands.

Also ran into awesome Austin artist, Jason Ice. Him and his mohawk were showing off some awesome talent in action. If you're in Dallas, go see his gallery show, Souled Out!

Lawn party out our side window!

Thanks for coming to Homegrown Dallas!!! You all rock! We are also so happy to see Dallas bringing back the bands. Thank you to all who helped put this show on. We are forever your fans.

Cheers,
-Dylan + Pamela

Chester picks our facebook contest winner

We wanted to celebrate taking the Dowdy Wagon to the Homegrown Music and Arts Festival this Saturday by doing a quick one day giveaway on our Facebook page. We asked everyone to pick their perfect concert tee from our Dowdy Studio shop and post a comment on our page of which one they picked. Then from the comments we picked one winner to recieve 2 free tickets. We also surprised the winner with the tee of their choice. We had a bunch of fun doing this contest and we wanted to show you how we picked our winner.

It's always tough trying to figure out how to best pick a winner at random. We though about just picking a number off the tops of our heads, but that was boring. Then we thought how fun would it be to put our intern, Chester the kitten, to work. He's been pretty lazy around the studio lately, so it was about time we gave him a real job to do.

Chester is a sucker for kitty treats, so we figured we'd lay out numbers corresponding to the comments left on facebook, then put one cat treat on each one, and let him pick the number based on which treat he went after first. He did end up eating all the treats, so really Chester loves you all.

And we couldn't help but get it on film!!!

Cheers, and
see you at the Homegrown Music and Arts Festival!!
