It's almost time!!!

Hey guys! The grand opening of the Dowdy Studio Wagon is just days away. We have excitement pumping through our veins as we gear up for the big reveal on Saturday, March 12th at the Gypsy Wagon!

We hope you will come and join us! The festivities start at 10am in front of the Gypsy Wagon. Come early and grab one of our Dowdy Studio Grand Opening tees. We'll be handing these out for free to whoever gets to them first. We have a limited supply, so once we run out, we're sorry.
However, there will be no shortage of tees for sale in the Wagon. Along with wooden jewelry, art prints and silk screened bags, we've got you covered. Check out some of the goodies we'll have here. Also, ladies - we're stocking up with new ladies tees!! You've asked, begged and wished for this, and we've made it happen.

Cheers!
-Pamela + Dylan

The Making of the Dowdy Studio Wagon: Part VIII

Yesterday was a very exciting day as the Wagon got a much needed exterior facelift. Now it's gone from plain black wagon to shiny fancy Dowdy Studio Wagon. Yay!

Our Friend James, from One Up Designs is a master of decals and details helped us with the Wagon artwork. He's amazing in all ways! Just to prove it, click here.

We're half way there!

After many cups of coffee and most of the morning, it looks like we have an official Dowdy Studio Wagon! Lulu approves.

We are so proud of our creation, we hope you'll like it. Come visit us for our grand opening and tell us what you think. We'd love to see you!

Cheers!

Estate Sale Score!!

For those of you who know us really well, you already know about our estate sale obsession. For those of you who don't, well......WE FREAKING LOVE ESTATE SALES!!

There's something magical about getting to see a person's left behind belongings. Not only do you get the change to see some unique vintage pieces, but you also get to see them in their context, meaning where those pieces lived while someone owned them. You can kinda create your own story in your head about the person by what things they kept. You can get a sense of who they were by seeing their kept treasures.

We were out last Saturday afternoon, and saw a huge pink sign near our neighborhood. We had no excuse not to slam on our breaks and bust a u-turn. It was Saturday around 3pm. Now if any of you are professional estate sale shoppers, you know that 3pm is usually slim pick'n time, but we went anyways.

GOOD thing we did, because we found this beauty!

The frame was originally a brassy metal color, so we painted it a more suitable color for the Wagon.
Then we decided we should take some pics with both of us and the mirror

Here we go, up on the wall in the Wagon. It's a nice new home for this beautiful mirror. Thank you Estate Sales!!

Our big Grand Opening is right around the corner!

Most couples get married and have little babies, We got married and had ourselves a little store.

In January 2011, we created a 72 square foot empty concession trailer with bland chipboard wood walls and an aluminum roof that Dylan had been hanging on to. With our artistic visions combined for a unique artistically driven mobile shopping experience, we got to work building and remodeling, the interior of our future love child, the Dowdy Studio Wagon.

Join us and shop Dallas' first handmade art shop on wheels featuring the artwork of Dylan and Pamela Dowdy. You can can expect to see screenprinted mens and woments t-shirts, bags, wall clocks, framed/unframed artwork and wooden jewelry. Both of us will be on site, so come by and meet us and say hello.

Get there early and receive a FREE Dowdy Studio Grand Opening T-Shirt (while supplies last). Come be the first to see the exciting and innovative Dowdy Studio Wagon! YAY!

Hope to see you there!
date: Saturday, March 12, 2011,

Cats like to ride deer?

Our 5 month old kitten, Chester is a strange guy. We've found him on multiple occasions trying to take our wooden deer statue for a test drive. Little does he know, that it's not a real deer and he's not going anywhere. But Chester is too cute, so I don't think we'll be able to break the news to him.
"HI HO DEER!"

The Making of the Dowdy Studio Wagon: Part VI

Painting a chest:
Dylan built this wooden chest to sit under the tee rack. The he used his slick art skills to give it a fancy custom paint job. Check it:

Before
After - (with a little clean up)
This is what it looks like with the new drawers too. We stuck in some prop prints to show you how our handmade drawers are going to showcase our prints.

The Dowdy Studio Wagon - Part V

Today is all about Pamela fake making drawers.

Dylan made these really cool drawers that stick out of the wall to hold our prints. There are three of them and each is a different size to hold out 3 sizes of prints.

This is Pamela coming home for lunch and pretending like she's helping do something to the drawers. "This drawer looks great! Let me measure it and make sure there is a distance from this corner to this corner. Yup, all seems to be in order. check!" - Pamela

"Oh this already finished drawer seems to be level. I'll even do the pencil test. er...hrm....good good. Perfect! Well then, I guess I will take more pics, then go make a sandwich." - Pamela

We had fun diving in and out of shops and stores too looking for unique drawer pulls. We loved the mixed match look of the different metals, but after putting them on there we were thinking they might be cooler painted all bright colors. We still haven't decided, what y'all think?

Just a little fun at IndieGenius

We have a micro-boutique at IndieGenius, an indie marketplace near Bishop Arts in Dallas serving up some really cool goodies. A while back we made a little swing by and worked a few hours, then loaded up our boutique space with lots of new stuff! Hell to the yeah!

We stocked up the tees for the ladies, new necklaces, clocks and loads of new prints.

Then we took pics!

There was a photo booth at a party they held there for Valentine's so we decided to put on our pretty faces, and strike some poses.

Wanna see more pics? Hit us up on facebook + show us some love.

Cheers!

The Dowdy Studio Wagon: Part IV

We're getting closer! After installing the bench, cash wrap and a tee rack, we decided we should probably clean this Wagon up a little before making more displays. Sweeping isn't really the most fun part of the renovation, but it must be done. Hey, at least I'm good at it! Especially when it's only 72 square feet of space.

We are madly in love with the faux wood floors against the gray and white painted walls. The the springy green wall in the back adds for some extreme pop!

We hung some tees on the tee rack just to see how they looked with the new furniture displays. We looooove it, and think they look stunning in their new home.

Dylan installed lighting around the ceiling for when we're out in the evenings. It's so bright in there. We closed all the doors just to see if you could still see in darkness and VAVOOM yes! Score!

Our hearts are racing with excitement, and we can't wait to show you more of our adventures of building this baby!

We also hope you can join us March 12th at the Gypsy Wagon in Dallas for their first Handmade Market of 2011 happening once a month through May. This will be our GRAND OPENING!!!!! Hooray!!! Stay tuned to hear about more of our upcoming events.

Happy trails!
-Pamela + Dylan
