Get to know your Bolsa

This Saturday and Sunday we'll be taking our mobile shop, the Dowdy Studio Wagon, over to one of our favorite food stops, Bolsa Cafe. Bolsa is an Oak Cliff gem. If you haven't been, well then GET OVER THERE and eat & drink as much as you can! If you have been, then AWESOME! Go again this weekend.

What makes Bolsa unique isn't just their mouth watering dishes, tasty tasty mixed drinks, and their large chill patio and inside/outside bar, but their attention to details in everything they make. I guess that's what makes us really appreciate them, since we like to do basically the same thing, just with art, not edibles.

Their attention to detail starts with their ingredients selection. Instead of zooming over to the general restaurant supply food shop, they hand select all their ingredients from local farmers and growers. They even rotate the menu seasonally to have the freshest and tastiest selections. Sprinkle in a top chef, Jeff Harris, to artistically put it all together, and they master putting all the awesome in their dishes and drinks.
To top off their awesome, we'll be open to the public right outside their front door selling our art, tees and handmade goodness. Join us!

Sat - 11am-2pm & 5pm - 9pm
Sun - 11am - 2pm (brunch!)
614 West Davis Dr. Dallas, TX

Now here's some teasers of some of their previous dishes from their facebook page:
Check out their full menu here

Mediterranean Fish Stew
with white beans, roasted peppers,
chard, tomatoes & nicoise olives

(are you drooling yet? scroll down)
 Braised Beef Short Ribs
with cauliflower pure,
roasted cauliflower &
soffrito braised mushrooms

Berkshire Pork Belly
with heirloom squash ratatouille,
ricotta salata & reduced balsamic.

PB&J with warm peanut butter cookie,
vanilla bean panna cotta
& mum's preserves.

(Looks so good, right! We also highly recommend all their flat breads!!
Let us know what your favorite Bolsa dish is.)

Cheers!

We Are 1976 stops by the studio

Last week our buddy Derek, from We Are 1976, swung by the studio to hang out and get some action shots of us doing our thang.

We Are 1976 is a great Dallas shop, that we just can't stop saying good things about. It's run by 3 awesome chaps, Vynsie, Jully and Derek. They hunt all things artsy cool and bring them back to there shop, where you can get your hands on them. If you haven't gone by their shop, dooooo it! Among all the awesome finds in their shop, you'll also see our tees and clocks.

Derek got a sweet action shot of Dylan printing one of our ladies v neck Guitar Rootings tee.

He also found our stash of freshly screenprinted coasters.

See more of the action shots and discoveries Derek made in our Studio from the We Are 1976 blog, here.

Tattooed!

A while back, we were asked by sweetheart, Summer, the gal behind the blog bisforbrownie.com, to help her with an idea she had for a tattoo. Oh course we said YES!! We love inky skin! You may remember Summer from a print giveaway we did earlier in the year on her blog.

True Fact: Pamela doesn't have a single tattoo. Not because she hates them or thinks they're made of mystical evil voodoo, but because she could never settle on a single design or idea. As much as her mind changes, she might as well wait for them to invent disappearing computer chipped tattoo ink that erases whenever you decide you wanted something different.

Picture from, Athena in the Middle: www.bisforbrownie.com.

Summer's tattoo design was a fun project. She loved our Mer-Jack design and felt it was a good start to a design that could symbolize her father who worked on the sea. We renamed him appropriately the Mer Dad, and gave him his own papa charm. So this is what we came up with.

LinkPicture from, Athena in the Middle: www.bisforbrownie.com.

This is our first tattoo design to do, and we are so happy with how it turned out. Thanks Summer for letting us ink up your arm and making a really cool design for you that will be with you forever!

Read Summer's blog post about her tattoo here.

Cheers!

PIllow Party!!!

Here at the Dowdy Studio, we've been busy making all kinds of new goodies. One of our oldest newest goodies are these handmade silkscreened pillows. We debuted them at the Spring Bash back in May, sold out, then made a bunch more because you guys liked them so much. So here's the whole crew. We've glammed them up and had them pose it out as we held a photo shoot this week. All so these cuddlable fellas and ladies could make their grand appearance in our online shop.

We'll not only have them on Etsy, but in the Dowdy Wagon everywhere we go. Since they are made one at a time, it's possible the one you love might be *gasp* gone, but have no fear.....we make them, so we'll make you a new one!

Kitty fort headgear is the shizzzz!

Remember when we created Kitty Fort for Chester, the intern, and Lulu? Well, I betcha didn't know that Kitty Fort was a mobil operation. Yah, totally! It's in fact a traveling headgear with kitty lodging. We took this cardboard mobile cat extravaganza on the road and took a few shots of it by the Wagon.

Why?

I dunno, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Just enjoy it. We did.

Chester steers the mobile Kitty Fort

Chester realized that Kitty Fort is kind of a waste of time and tried to jump ship. He's smart, but sometimes an extreme party pooper.

Awesome Weekend Recap

Saturday, we wagoned on over to the White Rock Local Market at the Green Spot in East Dallas. There had to be at least 35 vendors selling everything from local produce, homemade cookies and sweets, shrimp,  art and crafts. We met lots of great people who came in and out of the Dowdy Wagon. We also took a little stroll around the market and met the makers behind Red Ranger Ray Guns and Will Ninja. We suggest you go check them out, because them kiddos are cool.

Sunday, the Wagon arrived at Good 2 Go Taco and we saw their neighbors, Goodfreind, setting up for their big patio party. They pulled out reclaimed church pews for people to sit, and gave out free beer and wine, a sampling of their menu. Hundreds of people came out Sunday to check out the new place and meet up with friends and make new ones. We certainly enjoyed it and cannot wait until this place opens for reals!

Oh OH! And we also brought our new design, Drink Local. Drink Local is actually a redesign of a tee we made for an event in Bishop Arts District called Brew Riot (much fun). We decided to redesign it, so that all people could support their local brewers and makers of drinks. We don't have it online in our Shop quite yet, but we're bringing these bad boys with us in the Dowdy Wagon for now.

Our other new design, the Cheif Lion, came with us this weekend too. We'd love you to meet them both over at in our Dowdy Wagon at  Bolsa Cafe in Oak Cliff next weekend. Join us for some fun, yum, and awesome handmade shopping.

Cheers!
