Brew Riot! Mmmm...beer + tees!

**UPDATE** You can find Brew Riot tees now in our online shop. click here

Last summer we kinda stumbled into (and out of) one of the greatest events we could ever fathom, Brew Riot!!

It was a warm weekend evening, and we had just finished packing up our handmade goods for the day from a Dallas show we were in. Our spirits were high, but our thirst needed to be quenched. When we heard rumors of a beer tasting event in the Bishop Arts District, our ears perked up, we cheersed our figurative custom engraved beer mugs, and ran over there to see what all the fuss was about. We had a blast at the 2nd annual Brew Riot trying all kinds of local brews and new beers.

When they needed tees done for this year's event, they asked us to design their 3rd Annual Brew Riot tshirts!! We power clinked our figurative mugs again in joy, and got to hand drawing a very cool design for the event. You can see a little of the hand lettering we did in this earlier blog post

The tees are a 100% cotton, hand screenprinted, prewashed, smoke gray tee, and will be on sale at Brew Riot for only $15. Yup, that's just fifteen buck-a-roos!

Go Oak Cliff will be selling our limited edition Brew Riot tees ($15). Get 'em before they run out.
date: Sun, May 22
time: 4pm-8pm
cost: $20 suggested donation to sample free beer local brewers

Proof: Yes, we draw it by hand

Many people ask us if we R E A L L Y hand-draw our designs, and the answer is yes!! Each design we do is an original hand-drawn illustration that starts in our brains and ends up on on our Dowdy Studio goods. We love getting into a pile of paper, pens and ink and spilling our creativity all over it. We just can't help ourselves.

This week we're working on a tee design for the 3rd Annual Brew Riot, a home brew beer tasting festival and competition in beloved Oak Cliff. Local homebrewers compete in the streets showcasing their craft brews alongside live music, games, and more. Several regional microbrewies will also be on hand sampling their wares and answering questions. A suggested $20 donation benefiting non-profit Go Oak Cliff is all they're asking to get in on the beer sampling.

Here's the proof that we draw it all by hand:

Proof #1: wheat stock

Proof #2: a little hand lettering

Proof #3: a little hand-drawn script

Go Oak Cliff will be selling our limited edition Brew Riot tees on site, so get there early, grab a tee and enjoy the beers!! You'll be glad you did.

Indie Genius Bazaar Recap

Last Saturday and Sunday we spent both lovely days in the IndieGenius parking lot on 7th and Zang with a bunch of cool artist folks + friends in our Dowdy Studio Wagon. We have a permanent small boutique space inside Indie Genius, but thought we'd have some fun and set up the Wagon outside too.

Here's some shots we took at the beginning of the event. We really wish we had more time to shoot more, but we got a little carried away just enjoying ourselves and meeting awesome people.

Our new chalkboard sign got it's first debut on the door of the Dowdy Studio Wagon all weekend.
There were lots of cool vendors. Must give a shout out to my Etsy Dallas peeps: Signifying Not, ReGeared, Karmacrocket, 2Enju who were all there and a special shout out to our friends from F is for Frank. They all rock'd it as usual.

Justin + Lindsay had the cutest lively bundle of fluff. The lovely Milo, waltzed in the Wagon and started shopping even before his parents knew what was going on. I think he was kinda bummed to find we didn't have any tees in his size, but we think he still had a good time.

Thanks for stopping by our blog guys! We hope to see you soon at the next Dowdy Studio Wagon event. We'll be at Oak Cliff Earth Day this Sunday from 12-5pm.

Hi!!! - from Dylan

Did you say food?

We didn't take this pic. We actually pulled it from the Bees Enchiladas facebook page, but we wanted to inlude a little shout out for our new favorite enchilada house. Bees, is just a skip across the street from Indie Genius, so we indulged in their tasty offerings. i'm sure everything on the menu is great, but may we suggest: try their mushroom and spinach enchilada's with avocado sauce (Pamela's fave) and the brisket enchilada with blanco queso (Dylan's fave).

YUM YUM YUM!!!

Cheers!
